Tourism boost up in China

It is predicted by the World Tourism Organization that China is poised to become the world’s hottest tourist destination by 2020, receiving 137 million overseas tourists in that year alone. The country is expected to generate 100 million outbound tourists by then. It is also reported by the Beijing Foreign Enterprises Service Co Ltd that Beijing and Shanghai will each need 500,000 trained hotel staff by 2010 to serve the millions of overseas tourists expected to pour into the country for sightseeing and international conferences. Meanwhile, the government’s figures reveal that by 2015, China’s tourism industry is expected to employ about 100 million workers, compared to the current 60 million. The figures also show that spending by domestic tourists amounted to 777.6 billion yuan last year, by urban residents increased to 555 billion yuan and for rural residents to 222 billion yuan. And Chinese government will also initiate a series of fisical measures to promote tourism especially in less developed west and central areas as well as regions in the northeast.
