The Vancouver Olympic Games

China’s Olympic athletes, who won a record 5 gold medals plus 2 silvers and 4 bronzes at the Vancouver Games, arrived back to China to a hero’s welcome from throngs of well-wishers. The team was greeted by thunderous applause from families, friends and fans waving flags, flowers and banners. This led us to recall the 2008 Summer Olympic Games that was kicked off on 8 Aug 2008. As the host of the  Olympics, China exceeded the expectations, won a record 51 Gold Medals, and a total of 100 Medals. I think the Games is so called Olympics and is so exceptional not only because of the quality of the competitions, but also the great performances and the enthusiastic athletes. As the next destinations after the Olympic Games, Shanghai will be the host of the 2010 World Expo, and Guangzhou will be the host of  the 16th Asian Games in 2012. China will fulfill its promise and step closer up to play the bigger show on the world stage!
